THE NEW ZEALAND GEOPHYSICS PRIZE

THE NEW ZEALAND GEOPHYSICS PRIZE was established by the Astronomy and Geophysics Section of the Wellington Branch of the Royal Society of New Zealand at an Annual General Meeting held at Wellington on 19 October 1967 as an annual award of suitably inscribed books to the author(s) of the most meritorious publication in the field of Geophysics in New Zealand.

The founding fund was financed from the Section's resources and a major additional grant was added in 1994 from profits of the IASPEI94 international geophysical conference held in Wellington, New Zealand.

The first award was made in 1968 and prizes have been awarded every year since. Winners are listed below.

In August 1996, responsibility for administration of The N.Z. Geophysics Prize, along with the Prize Fund, was transferred to the New Zealand Geophysical Society (Inc.)
